Situated near Montagu on the Route 62, this exquisite venue, nestled within the natural splendour of the Karoo, has set CELLAR 1848 (previously Cabrières d’Avignon), apart as one of the area’s most coveted wedding hotspots.

The wine cellar venue dates back to the 1800’s and is characterised by its authentic charm as well as the glamour that accompanies the 16 baby chandeliers and the attention to detail. Beside it is situated the elegant tasting room with its fireplace and 23-meter outdoor verandah. All around these beautiful facilities are the breath-taking vineyards, fynbos and mountains of the South African Karoo.

CELLAR 1848 venue boasts both indoor and outdoor seating facilities, which means a Bedouin tent can be erected for an Outside Venue with stunning sunset views for a larger reception of up to 180 guests. More intimate receptions of up to 90 people can be held in the Indoor Venue inside the Restaurant.

There is an option for a space to have the bridal couple’s ceremony outside under the big pepper tree (weather permitting), otherwise the local church is just 5km‘s away.
