Welcome to Papkuilsfontein Guest Farm in Nieuwoudtville in the Namakwa region of the Northern Cape. Soak up the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful farm. Stay in the old, beautifully restored stone cottages, in your own private Fynbos setting or at one of our campsites.
View the awesome canyon and its’ 100m waterfall. In spring, enjoy the world-renowned flowers in this Serengeti of the floral kingdom (This area is known as ”the Bulb Capital of the World” because it has the highest speciation of indigenous bulbous flowers on Earth).
Experience the rich bird life, fauna, and San rock art. Swim in the cool waters of a natural rock pool, or in the pool at the cottages, built to be reminiscent of a farm dam. Hike the trails through sandstone rock formations and don’t forget to bring your mountain bike.

Rondekraal
Rondekraal is a romantic escape for two. Built with sandstone and a thatched roof, furnished to maintains its historical charm. The stable doors with the upper part in glass ensure the endless landscape is not obscured.
It has a fully equipped kitchen/dining area, and a double bed with a percale cotton bed linen. The bedroom features a Victorian bath and shower.
De Hoop
De Hoop is a historical longhouse with a spacious living room and hearth (fireplace where you can also braai). It is furnished with comfortable chairs and sofa conducive to reading in the warmth of the winter sun under a northern window. Another window opposite offers lovely views on the southerly side of the cottage.
The living room leads directly into a bedroom with a double bed and 2 Single beds and an immediately adjacent bathroom with a Victorian bath. There is an outdoor shower with hot water and a view of the surrounding countryside.
Gert Boom Cottage
Comfortable chairs and sofa are next to the hearth, so welcome on cold winter evenings, and its fireplace doubles as an indoor braai. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with four-burner hob, oven and fridge all gas-powered. Many guests, though, prefer to book dinner which is delivered to the cottage. Breakfast is only served at the converted farm kitchen at the main homestead.
Gert Boom has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, both with showers only, one of which is part of the double bedroom. The other bedroom is twin bedded and a further two single beds in the living room provide sleeping accommodation for families or larger groups of friends.

– Share a bathroom and toilet in a sonkwas reed hut, built to be reminiscent of the reed dwellings in the area.

– Covered pergola for washing up and shade for summer.
– Gas geyser for hot water
– Huge circular braai lapa with low raised sandstone seating around it.
– Low sandstone braai pits built at different spots where people usually pitch their tents.
– Tall taai- and kraaibosse provide shade while we wait for the trees to grow big enough.
– The campsites offers beautiful vistas over the Hantamsberg mountains to the east, and the canyon cliffs to the west. It was developed on the extreme right side of the property so as to be private.
– The campsite cannot be reached with a low a clearance vehicle.
Please note: wifi is available at reception – so this really is a time to switch off and immerse oneself in the natural rhythm and beautiful environs.
